Living in Scott

Sherwood Community Centre makes it possible to combine a library visit, a swim and other activities at one Main Street West address. Its arenas, pools and active-living studio give Scott a substantial recreation anchor. If you would use those facilities regularly, include the route from the house in your neighbourhood visit.
The Town records Scott’s main development period as 2007 to 2014, with a lower- to medium-density housing mix. Its west-side location brings its own travel pattern. Try your trip to work and the shopping circuit you would use, then look at how comfortably both fit around the activities you enjoy.
The appeal, and the compromise
A combined facility
Library and recreation services share one destination at Sherwood.
What to weigh. Check program availability and the route from the house. Proximity does not secure registration or make every crossing easy.
A west-side setting
An established residential setting with clear local anchors.
What to weigh. The station and eastern errands still belong in the weekly travel calculation.
Take this on your visit
Three things to try.
Drive the cross-town portion of your commute before the highway or train portion.
Try a visit to Sherwood Community Centre and its library branch.
Walk the immediate street and check where the nearest comfortable crossing is.
Schools in and around the area.
These are school-location examples in this part of Milton or the wider area. They are not a list of schools assigned to every home here. Start with the exact address, grade, program and intended school year.
Escarpment View PS

School details ↗Can you choose a school outside your area?
Sometimes, but the boards do not have the same rules. HDSB accepts 2026/27 elementary transfer applications at only five listed Milton-area schools, with grade restrictions at four. HCDSB lists three Milton elementary schools open to ordinary cross-boundary applications; all three Milton Catholic secondary schools are closed to those requests. Open status is not approval, and in-boundary registration is a different question.

Start with these local stops, then explore the surrounding businesses. Some destinations are outside the neighbourhood; check the route, current hours and menu before a visit.
Sobeys Milton
1035 Bronte Street South
A Bronte Street option for a larger weekly shop.
Check the business or directory ↗Pasqualino
248 Main Street East
An established downtown option for pasta, pizza and a sit-down meal. Check the current menu and reservations.
Check the business or directory ↗Chudleigh’s Blossom Cafe
176 Main Street East
A cafe stop to include in a walk through downtown, rather than another drive-through errand.
Check the business or directory ↗Try combining the school run, grocery stop and trip home. A destination that looks close on a map can still be awkward when crossings, traffic and carrying bags are involved.
Start with the connection you will repeat.
Route 6 is a logical starting point for Scott and the Sherwood connection. Verify the direction and walking segment for the chosen address.
These are service corridors to investigate, not a promise of a stop at any property. The fall 2026 network includes September 8 changes. Check the timetable for the date, direction and time you need. OnDemand requires a booking and a qualifying service zone; rural coverage must not be assumed.
To downtown Toronto
Allow for the trip to Milton GO, parking or a bus connection, the scheduled train or bus, and the final trip from Union. Peak-direction rail service is not the same as all-day, two-way trains.
Work out the full journey →By road
Test the actual access to Highway 401 and the route to work. If 407 ETR is an alternative, include tolls in the monthly cost. Visit at the time you would normally leave, not only on a weekend.
Check 407 ETR costs ↗Look beyond the purchase price.
A convenient local routine can help a home remain useful as circumstances change. Keep that separate from an appreciation forecast. Examine future development to the west, road access and maintenance needs before deciding how much premium the location warrants.
The house is also part of your finances.
Mortgage principal repayment can build equity; appreciation is separate and is not guaranteed. Maintenance, interest, fees and transaction costs affect the result. If the home is part of a retirement plan, consider what it would cost to live somewhere else before treating its entire value as available cash.

Traditions by Heathwood
Heathwood identifies Traditions among its completed Milton projects. Its 2012 project article places the development at the west end of Main Street, with the Village at Traditions as a final pocket. Porches, bay windows and masonry detailing were part of the architectural approach.
